Meet the Photographer

Hi! I’m Susannah, AKA Suzi the Photographer. I’ve always been an animal lover and avid photographer. Growing up I always wanted to be a photojournalist traveling to exotic locations and documenting the world through my photography. That never happened, so I decided to do the next best thing and became a pet photographer.

Animals bring such joy to our lives with their unconditional love and companionship. I feel that it is important we document their importance in our lives by capturing them forever through the medium of photography. Creating images of your beloved pets that you will cherish for years to come is my number one goal.

While I have been a professional pet photographer for several years, my experience with photography goes back to my childhood. Along the way, my knowledge and skills have improved, but it is not a static process and each day I learn something and grow as an artist. I want to share my love of animals and artistic eye with you in capturing memories of your furry loved ones.

My first published work, Rescue Dogs: Portraits and Stories, was released by Amherst Media in August 2017; my follow-up books, Rescue Cats: Portraits and Stories and Rescue Rabbits: Portraits and Stories of Bunnies Finding Happy Homes, were released in 2018. I’m a member of Professional Photographers of America and HeARTs Speak. As part of my efforts to give back to homeless animals, I also volunteer my time photographing rescue animals to help them get seen and adopted faster. Additionally, I am the publisher and founder of CincyPet Magazine, a local lifestyle pet magazine for the modern pet parent.

On a personal note, I travel between Cincinnati, Ohio (where I’m from) and the San Francisco Bay Area (where my significant other is from) as I have family in both places. I enjoy the opportunity to explore new landscapes and have new adventures. I currently live with my two rescue dogs:  Mr. Bojangles (a chihuahua) and Lola (a chihuahua/pug); as well as two rescue cats, Diana (a tortie) and Milo (orange tabby).

I love my dogs and cats, the color pink, travel, cupcakes, anything coconut, and I’m a total make-up junkie. I dislike animal cruelty, social injustice, and the scent of lavender.

You can follow Mr. Bojagles, Lola, and Milo on Instagram at their accounts: @official_mr_bojangles; @lolathenewgirl; and @milotheintern. Diana prefers to shun the social media spotlight, but will occasionally make an appearance.
