We’ve reached another Friday and the year is already more than half over. Funny how it doesn’t even feel like the year has even gotten half started. Anyway, “blooms” was the theme for this week and I decided to use my own backyard as my setting because the pandemic has somehow turned me into a gardener. The last couple of months I’ve spent a lot of time cleaning up my backyard and planting flowers in containers. This week I even added tomatoes to the mix (we’ll see how that goes.) In the past, I’ve not been very good at keeping plants alive, but so far I’ve managed to not kill anything…even a salvia plant I thought was dead came back and is now thriving. The only plants that actually didn’t work out were a few Asiatic lilies, because something (I suspect the chipmunks) decided to dig them up and eat them.
Because the backyard is so inviting with its colorful flowers (I think I’m almost to 30 plants, not counting the tomato plants or the few actually planted in the ground), we’ve all been spending a lot of time out there. One of the best additions to the backyard this year is a lounge chair. It’s my favorite spot to hang out, especially since both Mr. Bojangles and Lola can sit on the chair with me at the same time. They absolutely love it! Lola even likes to sit on it when I’m not.
