We’re at Week 18 of professional pet photography blog circle Project 52 and our theme for the week was “colorful.” This week coincided with a trip to Nashville for a family wedding and the perfect opportunity to scout locations in a new city. Nashville has a lot to offer beyond the country music scene and one of those offerings is artwork in the form of murals covering buildings throughout the city. You can find many online links to a variety of different murals, but one site is Nashville Walls Project and another is from Nashville blogger Greta Hollar. While I didn’t see any of the murals from the walls project, I did see quite a few around town, but I spent most of my picture-taking time with the wonderful murals located along the business corridor of 12th Avenue South or just 12South.
The above image is a detail of the following mural.
As with all the murals, this was a pretty popular spot (especially since it was a sunny Sunday afternoon), but I spotted something even more special on our first walk-by of the building and knew I had to use it for an image. The iconic Rolling Stones “hot lips” logo promoting an exhibition of Rolling Stones memorabilia “Exhibitionism” at the Musicians Hall of Fame & Museum in Nashville. (I am totally going to have to go back to Nashville before this exhibit closes, because The Rolling Stones were my mom’s favorite band and we saw them in concert three times!)
There were more murals in this area and I photographed a few of them with my iPhone, but you’ll have to follow both Mr. Bojangles (@official_mr_bojangles) and Paco (@the_real_pacocabra) on Instagram in order to see those images.
Of course, a trip to Nashville would not be complete without stopping by the Grand Ole Opry for a photo or two, and that’s just what we did. Paco posed with his daddy.
And Mr. Bojangles posed like the rockstar that he is.
We all had a great time in Nashville and I look forward to visiting there again.
