It’s Week 17 of professional pet photography blog circle Project 52 and our theme for the week is “playtime.” I had some great plans to capture images of my dogs and their friends at play on Easter Sunday for our chihuahua playgroup, but it was not meant to be. Unfortunately, we had to cancel our playgroup because the dog park we were going to was flooded. Insert big sigh. The rest of my week was super busy because of planning for two big events this weekend.
Tomorrow, I will be in Columbus, OH, promoting my books “Rescue Dogs: Portraits and Stories,” “Rescue Cats: Portraits and Stories,” and “Rescue Rabbits: Portraits and Stories of Bunnies Finding Happy Homes” at the Ohioana Book Festival. This will be my second year participating in the festival and I’m hoping that the new location of the Columbus Metropolitan Public Library’s Main Library Campus will make the event even bigger and better. The Ohioana staff do an amazing job with this event. If you are in the area, stop on by as the event is free to the public.
On Sunday I will be back in Cincinnati for my favorite event of the year, the Oakley Pup Crawl benefiting the National Canine Cancer Foundation and the research grant they are currently funding at Purdue University. This event is so much fun as patrons get to hang out all around Barkley Square AKA Oakley Square with their pups as they take advantage of Pup Crawl specials for all the registered crawlers. Come out to Oakley on Sunday and stop by our booth for our special gift basket prizes that include a complimentary session. It literally is the #bestdayever. You don’t need to be registered for the pup crawl to stop by and visit the vendors or local businesses, but if you do register on-site all that money goes to fund the research grant and you will get the special swag and can take advantage of all the pup crawl specials and freebies.
Anyway, back to this week’s blog topic of playtime. Since I didn’t have the opportunity to execute my original plan and due to my schedule, I just couldn’t find the time to come up with anything new; so, instead, I’m sharing a couple of my favorite playtime photographs. This first one is one of my absolute favorite action shots of client Bisco catching his favorite egg toy. Bisco is just the cutest little toy poodle and he loved this toy so much!
I also wanted to include this next image which is from when I had my foster dog, Hoss. Hoss and Paco loved to play together. Well, Hoss loved to steal the toys Paco was playing with. It was so fun to watch these two go back and forth stealing toys from each other. I love this image because it’s a toy mugging in action. I especially love how Mr. Bojangles is in the background ready to break up the “fight.” Sheriff Bojangles likes to police playtime as he has declared the house a “no fun zone.” LOL!
Our next playful friend is Jessica Wasik with Bark & Gold Photography, celebrating the joy and love between Pittsburgh pets and their people after you visit her, head around the rest of the blog circle until you end up back here.
